We'll meet at 1pm at the S-Bahn bridge at the station "Treptower Park" to show some kickass feminine queer presence at the TCSD march.

The Berlin Femme Mafia has gone into hibernation.

We worked so hard on the Berlin Femme Show and the zine that now we need to rest. So we will be taking a break from femme organising for the foreseeable future.

However there are still femme happenings in Berlin! For instance check out the new Fab-Fem-Queer group.

The group email will still be answered sporadically and you can find us on facebook (Fab-Fem-Queer use the same page) at Berlin Femme Mafia.

The Berlin Femme Show Slideshow!

Well, it's been a while hasn't it? A whole month since the Berlin Femme Show, and what a success it was. 600 attendees and €500 raised towards the printing costs of Dressed Like That, the zine on sexism against femininity in the queer community. Editor Laura Brightwell is using the funds to make the 80-page zine available for a reduced price in Berlin, and plans to give free copies to local queer charities and zine archives around the world. Thanks to all our lovely performers, DJs and volunteers, and of course to those of you who came to celebrate queer femininity with us. It was a beautiful night.

We can now announce there will be surprise sideshow after the main cabaret. Ooooh! And, Owing to Hye Barnet's hair catching fire, our new co-host for the evening will be Siegessäule Drag Queen 2011 Kay P. Rinha ! Expect some bilingual banter between Kay and co-presenter Mimi Monstroe.


Event photographers will be the fabulous Sara Svärtan Persson from Bend Over Magazine and Simson Petrol.We are also delighted to have Brazilian MC Xuparina join us to spin some Funk and Baila.

nach dem Workshop "Femmpowerment" am 12.11. im Silvers Futere haben
einige von uns beschlossen uns zu einem regelmäßigen Stammtisch im
Silver Future zu treffen. Grund dafür war die banale Feststellung, dass
es toll ist, nicht allein zu sein, sondern sich mit den diversen,
tollen, aufregenden anderen zusammen zu tun. Ziel ist unser begonnenes
reden über queere femininitäten weiterzuführen, uns einfach erst mal
entspannt zu treffen, zu quatschen, vielleicht ein loses Netzwerk zu
bilden und wenn wir wollen evtl. sogar weitere Workshops oder
Veranstaltungen zu planen.

Der erste Stammtisch ist nun am Donnerstag den 1.Dezember 2011 um 19h im Silver Future!
Danach wird es immer am 1. Donnerstag im Monat einen weiteren geben, der
nächste ist also am 5. Januar 2012, falls ihr am 1.12. nicht könnt.

Wenn ihr diese mail bekommt, habt ihr Euch entweder für den
Femmepowerment Workshop registriert, oder Euch selbst auf die e-mail
Liste für den Stammtisch gesetzt oder kennt eine, die denkt ihr könntet

Was ist das eientlich alles? Was bedeutet das für mich? Wie ist damit der Umgang im Alltag, in der queeren Szene und für jede allein? Wie sieht unsere queere Utopie aus?
Es gibt nicht „die Femme“ oder „die Feminität“. Was passiert, wenn Femmeminität und/ oder Feminität gelebt wird? Fühlen wir uns damit in der queeren Szene wohl?
Nach all diesen Fragen und noch mehr Input von Euch wollen wir zuguterletzt die femmösen femmetastischen Dimensionen zusammenfassen und im Silverfuture der Nachwelt aufzeigen.

This time we're doing it in the early afternoon so all the party grrls can make it, and it's gonna be great. All femme-identified people are super welcome to come, find out about the Berlin Femme Mafia and what we do, and get to know each other. So newbies don't be shy - we don't bite, unless asked.

Berlin Slut Walk!!

after some deliberation, we at hydra decided to join the slutwalk that will take place this saturday. our decision was based on a letter we sent to the slutwalk organizers - which many of you have seen and agreed to - that placed a list of demands on the organizers and the event. sorry the attachment in german only. they agreed to our demands and conditions, which included getting some education and representation from non-white-middle-class-german women, and so we decided to participate.

as we fear that time is too short to mobilize our friends and even ourselves to come, we thought of organizing a femme-and-sex-worker coalition block for saturday's march. seems that such a coalition worked well in other cities as well. please join us!

nach einigem Hin-und her haben wir bei Hydra beschlossen, beim diesem Samstag beim Slutwalk (Schlampendemo) mitzumachen nach einem Briefwechsel, in dem wir ein paar Bedingungen gestellt haben (siehe Anhang). Sie haben zugestimmt und fanden unsre Kritik berechtigt.

eS istdammt wenig Zeit zum mobilisieren, deshalb wollen wir eine femme- und sexworker Koalition bilden und einen Block zusammen machen, so wie das in anderen Städeten gut funktioniert hat....

The Feast of Fabulousness Returns!

You are invited to the second Berlin Femme Mafia picnic - more fabulous than ever before and this year without the dramatic electrical storm halfway through! I've been scanning the weather forecast obsessively and can confirm that there is NO RAIN reported this year. Possibly it might get a little cloudy, but thats what frisbees are for!
If by crazy fluke it begins to rain again, we have a contingency plan in place and you will find yourself evacuated to a nice warm apartment thats only 10 mins away :)

We are choosing Tempelhof park again, mainly because it has a barbecue area, toilets & an icecream truck.
Suggestions for what people want this year include balloons, mobile makeovers, strawberry cake, frisbee, cheap sekt, dressing up (obv.s) and games! Games that involve getting messy (food fight!) games that are silly and pointless (pin the tail on the femme donkey!) and games that involve flirting (think of some!) I would also personally like a pie eating contest :) If you have any suggestions of your own, please contact us and we will do our best to make your dreams come true!

The Femme Mafia will provide some food, but please bring some of your own as well. I think the general consensus is that we keep it meat free or at least have a 'discreet meat' policy.
The picnic starts at 14.00 and will go on until late or until we all get too cold.
We really want to create a fun day for all Berlin femmes and of course our lovely supporters, lovers, friends and fans. The emphasis is on making a positive & safe space for femmes, so please come with a femme-positive frame of mind & be respecful :)

The Berlin Femme Mafia presents
Feminine Voices on Sexism in the Queer Community, a zine.
Call for submissions! Please distribute promiscuously.

Have you ever felt excluded from or experienced prejudice in the queer community because of your gender expression? The Berlin Femme Mafia is creating a zine of stories about sexism in the worldwide queer community by feminine trans* folk and queers.

The Berlin Femme Mafia knows that sexism against femininities continues in the queer community and we want all our feminine-identified trans* and queer sisters to share their perspective. Why does this gender inequality still exist in a self-named 'feminist' movement? We want to hear your thoughts about and experiences of discrimination against female and feminine gender expressions.

This project will be from the perspective of queer and trans* feminine folk and focus on sexism against our expressions of femininity. We invite contributions from all self-defined trans* and queer femininities, including trans*women, femmes, genderqueers, and queer ciswomen and -men with a feminine gender expression, no matter if part or full-time feminine.

Tell us about the stuff that makes you angry or sad. This can include being excluded for the way you walk, talk, dress, and negative comments about female bodies. Tell us what you would like to see change. What would a perfect queer community look like to you? Queertopia!

Contributions can be anything that will fit onto a half-size page, including creative writing, personal accounts of incidents, theory and artwork. We will print the zine in German and English, but will do our best to translate submissions in other languages into English.

To be included in a zine project by the Berlin Femme Mafia and made available online and in Berlin.

Warum gibt es solch eine Genderungleichheit in einer sich doch oft als feministisch definierenden Bewegung? Wir möchten eure Gedanken und Erfahrungen von Diskriminierung gegen Leute mit femininem Genderausdruck hören.

Dieses Projekt ist aus der Sicht von femininen trans* und queeren Leuten und es soll dabei um Sexismus gegen die verschiedensten Ausdrucksformen von Femininität gehen. Wir freuen uns über Beiträge von allen selbst-definierten Weiblichkeiten, seien es Femmes, Trans*Frauen, Genderqueers und queere Cisfrauen und -männer mit einem femininem Genderausdruck, egal ob ihr den jeden Tag lebt oder nur zeitweise.

Erzählt uns von den Dingen, die euch wütend oder traurig machen. Dabei kann es darum gehen, ausgeschlossen oder diskriminiert zu werden entweder für die Art wie ihr euch bewegt, redet oder anzieht oder auch negative Kommentare über als weiblich gelesene Körperteile. Erzählt uns, was sich eurer Meinung nach ändern sollte. Wie sähe eine perfekte queere Szene für euch aus? Queertopia!

Als Beiträge könnt ihr alles schicken, was in ein DIN-A-5 Format passt, seien es fiktionale Geschichten, persönliche Erlebnisse oder, aber auch Zeichnungen, Comics oder oder oder. Es wäre gut, wenn die Texte auf Deutsch oder Englisch wären, aber wir nehmen auch andere Sprachen, mit der Erlaubnis, die Texte dann zu übersetzen.

Das Ganze wird dann als Zine von der Berlin Femme Mafia sowie online veröffentlicht.

Das nächste Dinner der Berlin Femme Mafia findet am Dienstag, dem 26. Oktober um 19:30 statt. Die Adresse ist Böckhstr. 40 (U-Bahn Schönleinstraße) HH 1. OG, klingeln bei Ashby.

Alle self-identified Femmes und Femme-ininitäten sind willkommen und wir hoffen vor allem, ein paar neue Gesichter zu sehen, also, traut euch ruhig :) Es wird veganes Essen geben, aber falls ihr könnt, bringt doch auch noch was zu Essen oder zu Trinken mit.

Wir haben uns gedacht, an dem Abend mal ein bisschen darüber zu reden, was für Projekte wir gerade so haben, sei es Lohnarbeit, Kunst, politische Dinge, Kinder etc., und in welcher Form wir uns gegenseitig unterstützen und z.B. Ressourcen teilen können.

Fest of Fabulousness this Thursday!!

Your appearence is eagerly anticipated this Thursday at the Fest of Fabulousness - summer picnic/grill for femmes and our fans, allies and appreciators! Thursdays will never seem the same again! Come and enjoy some tasty food and drink and the presence of some very fabulous people. All genders welcome, especially femmes, our allies and appreciators. There will be cake and music and dancing...and hopefully sunshine! If not, we ha...ve a plan B. We are very welcoming so dont worry about feeling shy! Please bring some food or drink with you if you can and any friends you think might be interested in joining. This is an informal Femme Mafia event (ie, not an official one) but if you are curious about who we are as a group and what we do, it would be a good time to meet and chat and find out more :)

Die Berlin Femme Mafia möchte Euch einladen zum nächsten Femme Dinner, den perfekten Ort, um gutem Essen und einer Femme-positiven Atmosphäre zu frönen. Dieses Event ist kein Orga-Treffen, sondern ein Abend, an dem wir einfach gegenseitig unsere Gesellschaft genießen, andere Femmes treffen und gute Gespräche führen können. Alle, die bislang noch nie bei einem Femme Mafia Event dabei waren, sind besonders herzlich Willkommen! Wir möchten uns an dem Abend auch ein bisschen verhätscheln, also bringt alles, was euch zum Verhätscheln einfällt, sei es Nagellack, Gesichtsmasken, Lotion, was auch immer :)

Falls ihr dieses Mal nicht dabei sein könnt, hoffen wir, euch beim nächsten Mal zu sehen. Die Berlin Femme Mafia wird wieder monatliche Dinner veranstalten und hat eine Reihe weiterer Events/Projekte in Planung. The Berlin Femme Mafia would like to welcome you to our next dinner party, the perfect place to indulge in good food and a femme-positive atmosphere. *This event is not a planning meeting* it is a night to enjoy each others company, meet other femmes and get some good discussions going. People who have never been to a femme mafia event before are particularly welcome to come! We are also treating the event as a pamper party and encourage you all to bring along nail polish/face masques/hand lotion or whatever you like to pamper yourself with.
If you can't make it this time, we hope to see you at our next gathering. The Berlin Femme Mafia meets monthly and has a number of ongoing projects. Further details of these will be announced on Facebook or berlinfemmemafia.blogspot.com.

Hallo Femmes und Friends,

Zum einen möchten wir euch ganz herzlich einladen, sich beim Transgenialen CSD am 26. Juni um 14:00 am Rathaus Neukölln zu uns zu gesellen. Wir werden in der Nähe des Blocks vom Schwarzen Kanal laufen, den ihr leicht am mitfahrenden Traktor erkennen könnt. Außerdem werden wir Femme Mafia Buttons und Aufnäher tragen, so dass ihr uns leicht findet. Es gibt außerdem Geschenke! Wir würden uns sehr über Unterstützung von Femmes und Femme-Verbündeten freuen :)

Der nächste Termin ist das queer DIY Filmfestival "Entzaubert" nächstes Wochenende auf dem Schwarzen Kanal. Es gibt am 3. Juli eine kleine Auswahl aus Femme Filmen zu sehen mit dem schönen Titel "Femme Heroes". Nach der Vorführung gibt es eine große, von Queer-o-matic organisierte Party, bei der auch Femme-Performances zu sehen sein werden! Kommt also vorbei :) Der Bauwagenplatz Schwarer Kanal ist umgezogen und befindet sich jetzt in der Kiefholzstr. 74 in Treptow.

Und zu unserer großen Freude wird es im November wieder eine "Femme Show Berlin" geben. Einen genauen Termin und Ort gibt es bislang noch nicht, aber wir werden euch auf dem Laufenden halten.

Hello femmes and friends,

Firstly, we would like to invite you to join us at Transgenialer CSD this Saturday, 26th of June, 2pm @ Rathaus Neukoelln. We will be marching close to Schwarzer Kanal who are easily recognisable due to having a tractor and will be wearing our Femme Mafia patches and pins so you will easily find us. We will also have lots of free presents to give away! We appreciate the participation of any femmes and femme allies :)

At Entzaubert (the queer DIY film festival) one of our members has curated a selection of femme films called 'Femme Heroes.' After the screening there will be a big party organised by Queer-o-matic with femme performances. It will be a great evening and we invite you to join us with that also :) Entzaubert takes place at Schwarzer Kanal which is now located at
Kiefholzstraße 74. The rest of the Entzaubert programme also looks excellent, for more information visit entzaubert.blogsport.de. The Femme evening and party will be Saturday 3rd July.

Our next big 'Femme Show Berlin' will take place in November. So far we dont have a decision on the exact date or location, but we will keep you informed.

Liebe Femme-ininitäten,

erneut möchten möchten wir euch einladen zu einem femmetastischen Abend, an dem wir miteinander chillen und essen wollen. Wir wollen uns und euch feiern und in dem Glanz der ersten Femme Show Berlin baden! Über alles reden, worüber wir reden wollen, seien es Klamotten oder Politik - wer immer noch denkt, diese beiden seien Gegensätze, wird bald herausfinden, was sich hinter diesem und anderen Mythen versteckt, mit denen sich feminine Queers und Trans* tagtäglich herumschlagen.

Sowohl die Femme Show als auch das Feedback nach der großartigen Lesung zum Femme-Buch in Hamburg Mitte März lassen jedoch hoffen, dass Femmes vielleicht doch interessanter und willkommener sind, als wir bisher dachten :) Also, immer schön pink und positiv denken und kommt vorbei. Und falls ihr es diesmal nicht schafft, kommt beim nächsten Mal, die Berlin Femme Mafia dinniert einmal im Monat. again we wanna invite you to a femmetastic evening, where we can meet and eat and celebrate ourselves and bathe in the glory of the amazing Femme Show Berlin!
